Another WasteGate Question
Does anybody know how the red and blue vacume lines control the wastegate? The bule vacume line is plugged into the pre turbo intake air duct. The red and blue vacume lines plug into an electricaly controlled vacume switch that controls the wastegate actuator...
Does the blue line supply vacume or pressure to the wastegate actuator? Would disconnecting the blue line disable the wastegate? |
The red line supplys pressure to the wastegate actuator. That is the one that gets disconnected to disable the wastegate. The green line from the inlet to the wastegate control soleniod is the reference pressure the PCM compares to the MAP to determine when to open the wastegate.
Disconnecting only the green line would make the WCS read ambient pressure, and could cause the PCM to open the gate earlier. |
Does the red line get its operating pressure source from the green line? Or does the control selenoid displace the required volume to move the actuator? Or is there another line that I did not see?
Thanks in advance. |
the red line gets its pressure from the intake manifold, it diverts boost to the wastegate actuator to open it
