I just bought the kit with the new switch and harness for $25 bucks and put it in myself. Took about 10 minutes. No problem. Better than the recall that doesn't change the switch. I hear the whole idea was just to get owners to come back to the dealership with their trucks in the hope that they would decide that was a good place for service.

Ferget it for me. I guess if my truck burns down or whatever, I will collect insurance and buy a different truck. Kinda a piss off that ford wont fix the problem correctly.

Got cruise control fixed they told me about an hour. All they installed was the fused link.

Had mine done today they never even had the truck inside did it in the yard. couple of minits. Scotty.

Could someone post a picture of what the completed fix looks like. I brought my truck into a Ford dealer down in Florida (live in Chicago) and they went ahead and fixed it for me.

But when I opened the hood when I got back to my place there is something with twisty-ties and what looks to be electrical taple wrapped around something. Dont know if this is what its supposed to look like, so a picture from someone one help.

Usually the cable ties hold the new jumper wire/fuse assembly to the cruise control cable. It really doesn't look very good but that's how Ford designed it.

I received my notice about a month ago stating the parts would not be available now until February...but I also just called the dealer and he has the parts in stock. Don't believe everything you read. Call your dealer. I'm getting mine done today at lunch.

4Trax...why is it you feel that Ford is not doing it right? A fuse that blows in case of probs is pretty standard for any electrical circuit. Just my opinion, but I would rather have a fuse to replace instead of a harness, switch or the way these are designed, the master Cylinder.

I just had mine replaced on Monday. If the switch is faulty, ie wet from brake fluid they go ahead and replace it also. Mine was wet got it replaced, the whole thing took only 20-25 minutes. It cured my problem of blowing the abs fuse (#13). :) :) :)

Do you think the dealer would give me the kit and let me install it? Don't really like other mechanics touching my vehicles.

Not if you want to get it for free. They have to do it for the "record". If you want to install the part yourself....then you will have to pay for it.

Got mine installed on Saturday, 10 minutes, not a big deal. Thought that may have been the problem with the Cruise Control not working. Still not working, it was, I may have accidently did something when putting in the heater core, not sure any ideas, please email me. Scottpb33@hotmail.com

Since you have alot to remove and unplug in changing the heater core, I would go back through all the harnesses to make sure they are all connected correctly. Also fuses, buth under the dash and under the hood.

I did not have to remove the dash completely, followed another guys document provided on this site, worked out really good. I think I checked the fuses and they were good. I wondering if the sensor on top of the master cylinder is bad, not sure if there is way to check.

I dont know of a way to check it unless someone else chimes in. If you don't get anything, try starting another thread for that. Maybe it will get someone attention that has the answer....sorry. That or see if one of your friends that has the same setup for the cruise will let you swap just to check it.

They will give it to you if you pay for it, if you don't want to pay you have to make an appointment and they will install it. Ford policy.

Still waiting for Ford to announce the part is in stock, I don't really care since I regularly check the connection to make sure its dry.

I don't like others working on my truck either, I live in Pennsylvania which has a annual inspection and they pull the wheels to check the brakes. I have to retorque the lug nuts every time, they always overtighten the lugs. Also the center caps are usually not replaced properly.
