Hop ups for a 300

Does anyone know where I can get a 4bbl. or multicarb set up for my 300 straght six? I also heard about 2 piece headers but I can't seem to find those either. I building this thing because right now its easier to mess around with than it would be to toss in a 302. Besides a chrome valve cover I found, parts most parts seem to be hell to find...

yes offenhauser makes a 4bbl intake and you can use a 390cfm holley 4bbl also cranecams has a powermax cam for the ford 300 and I belive compcams also has them ,and hedman, and dynomax both sell headers for 300 in ford trucks. You could also run an electric fan for less drag on the motor. That would make a stout 300

check out the 300's forum on this site. Offenhauser DP intake with holley 390 cfm, and a pair of header manifolds from any EFI I6 with the walker downpipe will net you about 100 more HP. This has also been the cheapest route that I have seen. I put one in my 79 bronco.

Clifford makes a lot of 300 six cylinder parts. Cams, intakes, headers and lots of other go fast goodies. Should find them easy with a google search.

Welcome to the site !

Because this is an engine related question

Maybe Checkout the inline six forum :)
The alternative would be the fuel delivery forum.

I have a intake and cam for the 300. Ive got the specs on the cam but cant remember what the intake is. Let me know if youre still looking for upgrades, I did a huge conversion with my truck and dont need the parts anymore.

Thanks, I know I'm going to need a cam, but I think I'm gonna custom make an intake at work in my spare time. I'll definatly post pics when its done.

How do you know which cam to use? My truck is a daily driver...

Seen a pic of a hand made intake here not to long ago that was made out of 3 ford one barrel intakes. If you want to make some thing you should try and check it out, maybe give you some ideas. If I see it again I'll ler you know where.

Go to inliners.org. There is a picture of there. The French Town Flyer created it using 3 cut up factory intakes. Though I think this would be better for a rod than a truck. Some people use the lower EFI runners with a custom built plenum to mount a carb / TB on. I may go this route myself.

Stick with Six!

I did the Offy DP/Holley 390/efi duals thing with my '81, and it was well worth the money and effort. And I drive with a Light foot! I rarely get to 2500 rpm. You don't need to rev it to appreciate the improvement. Mileage is up, and overall driveability is better.
I would not swap a 302 into a truck. It isn't half the truck engine a 300 is.

Everybody who owns the 300 six always talk about putting a 268 cam in it like if they were redoing a V8. However, I had a NASCAR engine builder work on my cylinder head and he claims that the 300 stock cam has plenty of duration, it just doesn't have sufficient lift. Putting in a 268 cam only gives you more duration and no lift!!

Trust me, the power lies in the rockers!! Put some chevy rockers and leave the stock cam in! That'll give you the desired lift and power you need. All that combined with the Offy/Holly and free-flowing exhaust will really make a good difference.
