heater won't work
 

Hello, I recently flushed my coolant system on a 2000 Taurus with a 3.0 liter Flex Fuel system. I didn't use flush fluid like I should have, but water till it was clear. During the process, I had the heater on and I noticed that it was not heating like it should. It was only lukewarm. I'm sure it is a blocked heater core and I understand that I need to back flush the system some how. First where can I locate the heater core on my Ford Taurus and what is the most recommended way to clean.

was the heater warm before you did this? if so i think you forgot to bleed the air from the system.

I'm not sure. I did it back in the fall when I didn't use the heater so I'm not sure if it was working or not.

I don't think I did. No. Just drained the fluid out of radiator and flushed and drained again and closed her up and added coolant.

the way ive done this is go to the car wash then cut the lines leading to the core (going into the firewall) then take the car wash sprayes and just let it run threw the core (not hard pressure you could mess the core up)until it runs clear then take hoes repair kits (like 5 bucks) then fill the system to the proper level and your done

PS: the reason i go to a car wash is i live in a apartment but if you got a house a garden hose MIGHT work

like oojbearoo said "cut the lines" here's what i did when my f-150 heat quit, first i checked the heater lines going into the firewall, after the tuck was warm, one line was hot the other line was cool, that told me the the core was clogged, i made sure i knew which line was which hot = in cold line = out, i then bought two of those flushing T kits at the auto parts store, i cut both lines and the adapted the flushing T 's to both sides of the lines, i then hooked up the old garden hose to the out side which was the line that was cool to the touch and therefore the line that was the out line when-in the water would return to the block after passing through the core, i back flashed the core until the water ran clear, and then hooked the lines backup using the two flushing T's supplied by the kits, therefore in the future i could just unscrew one end and hook the hose back up to the other, after the that the heat worked just fine!
