Hey, that's great news! Hoepfully they'll be able to expand this to the Super Duty models as well. Did you read the NO ADDITIONAL COST to the consumer? Big time PR move right there!
We need to get more access to ethanol across the country. If it is contained to the Midwest, it will never catch on. This will help support the farmers of America and keep the domestic economy going instead of OPEC. I think ethanol is the best alternative that we have right now. I'm not saying a hydrogen based fuel cell isn't better but it is not here yet. I think ethanol is better than hyrbid or diesel alternatives right now. |
Yes, a great move. Last I saw at the one stastion in Chicagoland that I know of, ethanol was about .80 less than gas and $1.50 less than diesel :eek:

The mani reason it's largerly in the midwest is due to the infrastructure, and people's general resistance to change. We have had 10% ethanol for since the early 80's, but there are still plenty of areas that do not have it, even here in Missouri, there are a lot of stations not supplying 10% ethanol. Many people will not use the ethanol blend because of all the misinformation they are given.

the real question is can you get the current truck (mine is a excursion) to run on flex fuel maybe with a program chip?

Does anyone have any info on a list of parts that those of us with older F150's could convert our trucks to be compatible with E-85?
I got a feeling that it would involve a new PCM, a few more sensors, Stainless lines and a new tank. At least this has been the difference in past FFV's and non-FFV's with the same motor. The PCM would be spendy all by itself. |
