Where to get grease cartridge: Ford ESA-M1C75-B spec or better ?
Hello,
My service info calls for Ford XG-1-C or -K, ESA-M1C75-B grease. Where can you buy cartridge grease that meets or exceeds Ford's spec ? Thanks much. JR |
is that wheel bearing grease? if so just use a moly based grease.
|
What do you guys think about Lucas "Red and Tacky" grease? I have used it in the past and it is definately "tacky."

Is ther any moly wheel bearing grease that that is not dark gray in color? The reason I ask this is that with some other colors the color can indicate the amount of wear materrial in the grease. (i.e. when white grease becomes dark grey)
|
yes royal purple sells purple grease.
|
Well the dark gray in new grease generally indicates a high percentage of moly.

Im looking at a 1976 Ford owners manual which sets the EAS-M1C75B As the recommended multipurpose lubricant/ I know back then the greases were Lithium based.
If that number is still used I guess it it still Lithium. |
Lithium is the thickener to the base oil. Moly is an additive.

Sorry about digging in the boneyard and bring this back to zombie life.
Did anyone that is still on FTE get an answer to this question? The 2006 Ford WorkShop Manual calls for XG-1-C when pre-lubing the bearings of the rear axle on my F350. I would like to find something that meets the Ford spec and will work well with the hypoid oil in the rear diff. Thanks |

If it's u-joints that are being greased, moly based grease will cause needle bearing issues, lithium based should be used.. See Spicer's web site for more info..
