Excursion aftermarket alarm question

Hello,

I have been searching post about, alarms installed on excursions and have read a lot of people get the ford unit.Currently i only have keyless entry. I already have an alarm (Galaxy 5100RS FM) systems with remote starter and the transponder module. This alarm has a Turbo Timer, comes with a Pager to notify you of the status of your car, Monitors your tach for remote starting and is also for diesel (which i need). Will installing this Alarm possibly VOID any warranty? Should I have the Dealer Install or take it to an alarm place for installation? Also anyone with a diesel excursion and a remote starter, do you have a wire going from the glow plugs to your remote start module?

Here is the link for the model I have http://www.ecarsecurity.com/Galaxy_5...100rs%20fm.htm

Thanks,
Ruben G

From the looks of it, I guess no one has an alarm system installed.

Hi Ruben...I installed a Valet remote start/alarm with two way page in my V10
Excursion.

I have a friend that had a similar system installed in a diesel. If memory serves me, there is a way to trigger the start portion by using the glowplug light.

I also know that the shop that installed mine also just did a diesel Excursion. They used a turbo timer in reverse for the wait to start. I think they simply timed it so that after you hit the start button, it would wauit so many seconds. 20, I think.

An aftermarket alarm does not void your entire truck's warranty, thanks to the Magneson-Moss Act. It can only void the warranty if it (or a damage caused by the installer, etc.) is discovered to have damaged a given part. For example, (as unilikely as this is) that your aftermarket alarm shorted and damaged your wiring harness...this would not be covered by your Ford warranty.

your correct I have an alarm i will be putting on this weekend it triggers off the wait to start light for the glow plug. it monitors current on that wire when the current drops it will begin the start process.

its made by bulldog security. found it at sams club. i know its not the greatest but it has the features I wanted. the same alarm at a car place was going to cost us over 600$ this one was only 80$ at sams club. you can also get it athttps://www.directwholesale.n<!--StartFragment --><TD width="125" align="left">et/secure/. We got the <!--StartFragment --> delux 500.. it can be found under the starter area of that site. also got the T harness and the pats bypass module.

hope this helps. I dont knwo why they chage 159 for it when sams sells it for 80<TD width="125" align="left">

The remote start module I want to install (as soon as I fix my factory keyless remote system) has a wait to start delay built into it. It has a DIP switch that is either instant or 30 second delay. It is supposed to work by hitting the factory unlock 3 times after the third the delay begins. It wont be as accurate as sensing the drop from the GP light but for all intents and purposes it should do the trick.

yes it should but the ones that monitor the gp light work best to not wait too long or to short
