2007 Ford Diesel change

I was told this weekend that Ford was coming out with a new 6.8L CAT diesel and that will replace the Powerstrokes......anyone else hear of this????
Also, Dodge is going to a Mercedes Diesel and Chevy to Cummins........

Its going to be a 6.4 Navistar with 2 turbos. I am a Ford diesel tech and thats what the engineers tell us.

Either you are jerking our chain or someone jerked yours pretty hard.

lol thats the funniest thing I have heard...........

ford390gashog 11-07-2005 12:12 AM

guys don't fall for this stuff anymore. it happens daily.

RACERX7775 11-07-2005 06:11 AM

um, no, DERBYSTUD is absolutely correct. the 6.4 twin turbo will be out for the 07' model year. dodge has the cummins 610, gm now has like @650 ftlbs. now its fords turn to jump up some. it is the typical diesel war on its way up to the 700 ft.lb. and 400 hp mark.. it is just a matter of time...

uomeone 11-07-2005 07:14 AM

I did not post this to "jerk your chain" I wanted to see if I was getting my chain jerked. The guy that told me worked for GM for 20 years and runs his own Banks installation business. He talks like he has some "inside" connection. I WAS NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING...sometimes there is a "little" truth in what info you are given and I am trying to "weed" it out.

kw5413 11-07-2005 08:17 AM

That's why I said YOUR CHAIN may be getting jerked pretty hard. Relax, no need to use caps.

RACERX7775 11-07-2005 02:02 PM

well, the only way to really find the truth about which engine is to do nothing and wait for the truck or news from FORD which one will be out.. until then....................

Well, guess I will post this again.

The following is an excerpt from Diesel Forecast interviewing Timothy J.Cooney, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for the International Truck and Engine Corporation

DF: The new 6.4L Powerstroke will have dual EGR systems with separate coolers. Are you still working on new technologies as far as engine combustion goes?

TC: Yes, absolutely. We're trying to look at each one of those and take advantage of those as quickly and expediently as we can. The more you can control the emissions outflow, the less expense then gets hooked onto the engine.

DF: Are you looking at 2010?

TC: There's no question. We have programs active and underway for the emissions for 2010 as well. Our immediate focus right now though, is launching perfectly the 2007 (product) to meet those emissions regulations. And while we do have programs going on in 2010, our energy is focused on 2007. And as soon as we get that launch off the ground, it's all hands on deck for 2010.

And There It Is Ladies And Gentelmen......

JD717 11-07-2005 05:04 PM

From what I've heard Ford is keeping the 6.4L tt engine, Dodge has a contract with cummins that goes through 2012 I believe, and as far as I know, nobody is changing manufacturers anytime soon.

ford4.9 11-07-2005 07:09 PM

I guess this all comes from the want for change. I had a poll on this site that ask what diesel people would like to see in there truck, and from what was vote for, it would be either cat or cummin's I6.

LMAO...he told you all the myths at once! He musta been kidding...
