E-check in Cuyahoga Cty for diesels

Just wondering if anyone knows for sure if i am required to have a Catalytic converter on my truck to get plates, here in NE Ohio

I bought it from out-of-state and it does not have a cat. Don't know if it did, but it loks like there is a section of pipe in place of where the cat would be.

If the vehicle came with cats you are required to have them to pass E-check. However, most diesels did not come with catalytic converters.

When I needed to take my Cougar with removed cats in for an E-check, I went to a station in East Cleveland where the examiner just went through the inspection motions, not really taking a close look.

Like beerinside said!

My '00 PSD did not have a cat convertor, but then in '01 or '02 they started again since they upped the power and thus were more emissions(I guess?).

LOL - I've been to that East Cleve location. "Afternoon of the Walking Dead"!

I am gonna take a shot at it without cat and see what happens. I sure I'll get the inspector who has never seen a stroker before and will have no idea what to do. "waddya mean it doesn't have sparkplugs...?!!"

Thanks for your replies.
