Specs for 89 Ranger 2.3L

Hi all, I had a new head put on my truck and now I have a tapping sound coming from the engine. I believe the valves need to be adjusted, I don't know the proper specs--do you? What's the proper torque for the valve cover? I also haven't been able to find info on lifters for my 4 banger, can they be adjusted? If anyone has this knowledge, I would greatly appreciate your help! Thanks

Are you sure it is lifter noise???
My '88 has a set of injectors that would out clack any of the lifters i heard as a kid!
have you ever heard an engine at start up that was low on oil?? clacks bad for a second or two and then smooths out! now thats lifter noise!
you can try the engine stethiscope or the stick trick to "look" for where the sound is coming from. put device to ear (carefull!) or jaw and touch other end to questionable noise maker item. then listen. injectors are somewhat isolated by an o-ring and are a little bit easier to "sound" out then the heads or the block.
Good Luck

My Ford manual shows no valve adjustment.

Valve covers are 62-97in-lb, NOT ft-lbs.
