Miraculous Rear End Collision

My truck was rear ended yesterday by an older model Honda Civic and miraculously suffered ZERO damage! I had installed one of those rear hitch step bars which saved my entire bumper. I was amazed, not even a scratch on the chrome. The kid must of been doing 30 when he hit me. Needless to say, his cars front end was completely crushed! Not even driveable. I highly recommend a step bar, in fact I am going out to Pep Boys today to get another one!

Time to have the frame checked out. A hit to the hitch can actually transfer energy much further up the vehicle (like the front of the bed). The damage may not be able to be seen by the eye, so get it on a machine while the other person's insurance is still on the hook.

I would agree. The energy/hit from his car had to be transferred somewhere. Granted, your truck may have simply absorbed it without real damage, but I'd still have someone check it out officially ... on his insurance's nickel.

FYI, here's my hitch step ... bought to make it easier to get into the bed and as added protection for my RSS and exhaust tips.

Mrs. J took my truck to work earlier this year during a pretty good rain. A Civic rear ended her and got its' front end crushed and crumpled. My dealer could find no damage to the truck.
I have the trailer tow package, no ball was installed but the receiver cut into the Honda front like it was butter.

Thanks for the advice on getting the frame checked out. I examined my truck with a magnifying glass the day after! I will be taking her in to the dealer next week for an oil change and will have them look at it.

The Civic absorbed most of the impact through it's crumpled zones. I would venture to say your frame is okay! Drive down a wet street and see if your tires track evenly.
