1992 F-150 computer

Try as I might, I can't locate the computer. Can anybody help? Thanks, Phil

Its in the firewall behind the parking break..

Thanks for the reply. I'll look in the morning. I can't believe I could miss something like that. Is it the same size as all of the EEC IV predicessors? Is there something covering it to make it impossible to locate. I've been blind sometimes in 30 yrs. of working on cars, but this takes the cake. Thanks again! Phil

Its behind the drivers side kick panel.

If you want to take it out, the only way its coming out is through the firewall into the engine bay. Trust me IT WILL NOT COME OUT ON THE CAB SIDE OF THE FIREWALL. It took me an hour and a couple of busted nuckles to figure that out.

Good luck.

Mine is behind the inner fender well on the drivers side. Still behind the E brake but only access is from behind the tire.

Hmm... mine is up under the dash to the right of the gas pedal. It has a black and blue plastic case. So, if it isn't behind the kick panel, look for a plastic case. It should have two plugs in it.

Dan, that sounds like the air bag module. The computer itself should be a metal case behind the E-brake pedal.

It's out! The two mistakes I made were 1)Don't expect comptuers to be inside passenger compartment 2) Don't trust Auto Zone's "component locator"!! It took me 5 minutes to remove it..thanks to you. Phil

Bumping...I've got a problem getting mine out. :-huh It is stuck in the hole and won't come out. Does anyone have any ideas? I've pulled everything, but I can't get the unit to come out.

Thanks!

Rather then bump a 7 year old thread, start your own instead. Be sure and list the spec's of your truck too.

X2 for what dan51 said. BTW..if your truck is a 1991 or older the PCM comes out from the cab side.....
