I can only tell you about the 99.5 to 2003. It is located on the back side of the fuse box. You can either open the dash up to get to the connectors you will need to disconnect. It involves the unsnapping of the section that the headlight switch is installed in. Or you may be able to drop the fuse box and maybe get to them that way. I do know that there isn't alot of slack in those wires. Hope this helps. |
I need to do the same thing, what does the GEM/CSM look like? I want to make sure I'm unplugging the right thing. If it has more than one connector which one do I unplug? Also, how long should I wait before reconnecting? Any help would be appreciated.

The 02 and 03's don't have a GEM, they have a VSM. It's behind the lower center dash trim panel, and it has three connectors.

Thanks Cookie......my mistake.......I thought they were all the same. Sorry guys. |
Wouldn't disconnecting the batteries and grounding the cables together accomplish the same task?

Being that I have a VSM and not a GEM, would Kwik's idea of unplugging the Batts do the same thing? Or do I go VSM hunting?

When you remove all power from the truck........nothing will stay alive after about 20 minutes. So yes, it would be the same thing........if a reset is all that's needed. |
