2000 Expedition acceleration rumble / shudder

I have a 2000 Expedition XLT (5.4L Triton) with around 74k miles. Lately I have noticed a strange rumbling/shuddering feeling when accelerating from a stop through about 25 MPH. It feels like the rumble is in the front axle area. I put on new tires about 600 miles ago, and didn't know if this may be a factor. Really wondering if it is normal or something major that needs repair.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.<O:p</O:p

Thanks,<O:p</O:p

Had a similar problem , Changed the Fluid in the transfer case, seemed to stop the problem

01silvergt - Yes it is a 4x4.

buju70 - Thanks for the info. I may have to give that a shot.

Tranny flush cured my 99

Did it work?

Just logging onto this forum after years of absence searching for information about my truck, a 2008 F-150 XLT 4WD with 83,000 miles. Over the last 6 months it too has developed what I'd call a rumble/shudder from stop - 10 mph or so, seems worse with wheels turned, but does it straight was well... all bearings/suspension, etc check out okay. Was just wondering if you tried the flush the previous 2 posters advised and if it worked.

Could this be the infamous torque converter shutter.

If this TSB doesn't solve the problem, then I'd next look into replacing the pair of u-joints that make up the double cardan joint at the front of the rear driveshaft.
