Welcome to FTE - someone important should be along shortly to officially roll out the red carpet. Lots of information passes back and forth here - some of it you can even believe...........
There's a whole engine section just a little farther down the page. AND a forum just for Y block engines. I believe the quick answer to your question would be the 239 OHV, 272, 292 and the 312. I won't bother posting on your other question - a little farther down the main page there's a whole forum devoted to transmissions and the guys there can tell you what trannys will bolt up and which need adapters to make them work. |
The Y blocks use their own bell housing bolt paddern so you can only use a transmission from a y block. Auto and standard transmissions were made for them so you should be able to find what you are looking for. Also their are adapters you can use to use a c4 and maybe soon a aod. Also be aware that the rear motor mounts are made on the bell housing for the trucks and were not on the cars.

Welcome to the forum Jon. :-wink When you get a few minutes, read the sticky threads at the top of the forum and then set up your gallery. We all love pictures of project trucks.
The engine forums are a good place to get info on transmission adapters, although we have a few experts here as well. :) |

so do they make a bell housing that will bolt to a 460 and also fit the old 4sp tranny ?

You can do a search to find similar threads. The bellhousing bolt pattern is shared with the other y-block, the Lincoln and heavy truck engine - 317, 368 and similar. Not a common engine.
The transmission to bellhousing bolt patterns for standard transmissions have two patterns; a narrow one, and a wide one. The narrow one is found on 3sp transmissions. The wide pattern is used with the T18/T98 with granny low. For the narrow pattern, there are adapters to mate certain T5 transmissions, and some Top-loader transmissions will fit the narrow pattern bellhousing. Your profile says you have a 51 F-350? Is that a 51 F3 or a 53-up F-350 or am I confused? |
