'79 F 250 4x4 460 swap

I just bought a 79 F250 ranger 4x4 with a 400 with a 4 speed, 4:10 gears. I'm buying a 460 from a '78 van to swap into it because the 400 has a knock, from what i'm told it has the right rear sump pan, and the right exhaust manifolds, what i'm wondering is what else do i need to swap this motor in, motor mounts, flywheel, anything else...thanx

460 Swap

You will need all the 460 accessories,Alt.,PS Pump, etc. If you are going to keep the 4speed tranny, check the clutch and TO bearing and replace if needed while you will have it all apart, the 400 flywheel/pressure plate will bolt right up, if you are using an Automaggit it will bolt right up as well. You will need the 460 radiator, the one for the 400 will have you overheating quick! The Exhaust will need to be altered! You will need to upgrade your fuel system to handle the larger motor, smallest carb for 460 using VE calculations is a 750CFM. DO NOT REUSE OLD HARDWARE!!! New hardware is inexpensive enough this should be a no brainer, but some believe that the old hardware is good enough, until something BAD happens! And last but not least you will need new motor mounts, the towers have enough material to alter them for a good fit.

I'm not so sure about using the 400 flywheel and clutch. everything else i have read on these forums say you have to change them even thought they will bolt right up. I think it will mess up the balance of the motor.
