Baton Rouge Emissions
Hi, I'm planning to move from Alabama to the Baton Rouge area in the next several months. I understand there is some emissions testing done in that area.
My Bronco (Stock 351W, carbuereted) has been missing the Evaporative system and also the Air Injection system since I've owned it. Is this going to create a problem getting it registered in this part of Louisiana? Thanks for any help |
what year?
|
Its a 1987
|
probably have to get it fixed first. They have been cracking down.

Great... maybe I can find the whole system existing in a junk yard up there and swap it over
They do a visual inspection for the equipment right? Do they also do a tail pipe emissions test? Thanks |
State Law
Louisiana past this law last year that any vehicle from 1996 to present basicly every vehicle with the On-board Diagnosics 2 (OBD2) can not have a Check Engine Light On are they will fail.
Basicly all they do is check you gas cap to see how much fuel is escaping from the gas tank. I would get a another gas cap before I would go for the Inspection. |
Hes right, we had a 85 Grand Marquis (only year ford TBI) and we put a 2bbl on it with a race fuel regulator and took the cats off and ran flowmasters. If you need to pass inspection go either my way to denham springs or across the river into port allen and brusly.

I ended up going to a place in Donaldsonville. They only checked to make sure my tailights came on when I pushed the brake. Anyway, I guess they aren't as bad as it is some other places.

I've lived in New Orleans all my life & have never had anything beyond lights & horn checked.
|
Safety checks only on 10 years and newer. My work car is a 92 and all they check is the safety stuff.

i lived there 4 yrs in livingston and all they check is gas cap unless it is a 1996 till now dont worry about it i had a 87 f 150 with a 302 boed 30 over strait pipes 470 lift cam never hed a problem pasing
