What year or model project truck are you looking for? I can't find a decent 1961 to 1966 pick up within five hundred miles of Chicagoland!

I all but gave up on finding a decent 1951 F - 1.

http://www.sitraders.com/ Have you tried watching this publication. I just took a quick peek and saw 2 or 3 that may be worth checking.

Here's an example.

1962 FORD F100: Pickup, unibody, for restoration. $750. Enfield (618)963-2070 call wknds

61' - 66'

Thanks..................everyone I find is hours away. At today's gas prices $2.79 in town for regular, the idea of a five to eight one way drive makes me ill.

Chuck&Lorrie 08-18-2005 08:47 AM

I know what you mean. Enfield is a little far for me, but if you find anything in my area I'd be happy to go out a get some photo's for you, or anyone in the group. Might save you a wasted trip at these prices anyway.

I'm in Effingham.

My Daughter lives in central Illinois. I may have her start to look for a 61' - 66' too.

I have a 64 F100 with a 429 for sale. I am located between Bloomington and LaSalle-Peru. It is from Arizona and is a great start for a project. It already has monoleafs springs installed that lowered the truck 4".

Is it a manual trans? Lowered 4"?, I'll never understand this lowering thing. I still like to see some air between a car/truck and the ground. Too many potholes up here, or snow to deal with. Got pics of it? Is the title clear? Is it road worthy?

It has a C6 automatic in it. The truck is not roadworthy. The engine and transmission are mounted with aftermarket crossmembers but it is not wired or plumbed. It has a clear title. I do have a 64 shortbed that doesn't have an engine or trans that the 429 could be transplanted into. It has stock suspension.

There are no decent 61' to 66' trucks to be found in Danville!

I'm about ready to cut up the 93' Vicki and turn it into a Ranchero.

When I wasn't looking I saw project trucks every where.

Now that I am looking, I can't find what I want close or equipped as a basis for

what I want.

Ron, you might be able to find a decent vehicle on the website auto-rv.com. It's the website for the free auto-rv trader magazine. All of the vehicles on the site are in the midwest(IL, IN, WIS, MI, Ohio). I've seen a couple of decent looking mid 60s pickups on that site.

Danville

The wife and I will be in Danville this weekend, will take another look for a truck in that area.

Well.................after looking and not finding the P.U. I wanted.

With two of my kids living in their own houses, I'll get a nice used full sized cargo van.

The need to haul tools and such and covered is important to us now.

The 93' Vicki goes as does the 80' Fairmont.

Hey Ron,
I saw a nice looking 65 F100 that you may be interested in. It's at Hove Buick/Nissan in Bradley. The truck is pretty stock looking. It's turquoise blue with white grille/bumpers. It has an 8 ft bed, and I think it has a tonneau cover so you could keep your tools in the back. I don't know what they're asking for it, I seen it parked in their side(wholesale) lot when I drove by. Looks like a pretty clean truck though.
