gluing molding/trim back on...?
On the drivers door of my pickup the rubber molding/trim (about 2" tall, black with chrome stripe in the middle)...whatever you want to call it...is peeling off. What could I use to attach it to the door again?? Some sort of glue perhaps and put pressure on the trim until the glue dries? Where the trim is peeling off the door is right at the front of the door, so it's peeled up a good 3-4 inches from hitting the fender.
I hope that makes sense. I'm trying to get it fixed before the end of July, since I will be taking my senior pictures, and will be taking some with my pickup. Thanks! L8R from Rice H8R |
You can purchase double sided foam tape for auto trim. As the foam can deteriorate, using some kind of glue may not work. Best probably to remove the trim totally, remove the old tape on whichever part it is stuck to, clean the 2 surfaces thoroughly and put on new two sided tape.
A lot of work, but probably the only way to ensure it stays on. |
There's a glue called "Trim and badge adhesive" or something like that, made by 3M. I think I got it at Wally World. It seems to work pretty well. I think it was a couple bucks for a small tube of it. Good luck. :-X22
PS - I think it's a black tube, with yellow lettering on it. Can't remember for sure. |
i use that stuff that Ryan mentioned it works great. they also make a weatherstriping in a tube used that on my ventshades good stuff

Whichever method you use be sure to prep the area well. A good and thorough wipe down with alcohol will help adhesion. I prefer using the 2 sided tape.
