05 Supercharger question

Hey guys/girls, I have a 05 f150 screw. In the next 6 months or so, I'm
planning on getting a supercharger. My question is, what modifications
(other than exhaust) can I buy now and put in that will work with
the supercharger. I just don't want to buy some mod and find that
it won't work with the supercharger when i buy it. Was thinkin about
buyin a af1 intake, but will this be compatible with the charger? Also
what tuner do you guys recommend Excalibrator 2 or the Diablo? I'm leaning
towards the excal 2. But would this work easily with the charger? Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. vancityf150.

I would recommend upgrading the factory exhaust so the engine can breathe easier. Flowmaster and Magnaflow are quite popular brands. Headers may also be a consideration, Gibson makes stainless steel headers for the 5.4. I've been itching to throw a supercharger on my 5.4, but don't have the cash to do it (yet). Personally I have the Diablo tuner, which has given the truck a whole lot more life than before. I can't comment on the Excalibrator 2, I don't know much of anything about it. As far as supercharger compatibility, the supercharger manufacturer will provide a plug-in for the ECM to recalibrate the system. The tuner may potentially interfere with the supercharger programming, but to be sure I would recommend contacting the manufacturers of the products, they should know better than I can tell you. Good luck.

I would not buy 1 single mod until you decide what blower package you are going to buy! The standard f150 tuner naturaly aspirated will probably not work on a blower package. You will notice for the most part that an F150 lightning uses a different tuner than the non blown engine. The only thing that I would consider is exhaust. Standard cold air intake may not work either due to your choice of blower plumbing. I think you are opening a nest of bees by just throwing mods at the truck before the major blower mod.

Pretty much what everyone else said, i would just go with the exhaust for right now-the great sound and bit of power should keep you smiling for a few months.

Right on guys, thanks for the advice. Thats exactly what I wanted to know. So I'm just gonna go for the exhaust for now. Flowmaster delta flow 40 series it is, single in, dual out. What size exit pipes should i use?? ( i mean from the muffler to the tips). I don't want to lose to much lowend power. 2.25, 2.5 or bigger/smaller? Thanx again for the advice guys! vancityf150

buy a cat back system from magnaflow and it comes complete easy to install
do it your self in 30 min. i have si so and the price has come down a lot :-X22 that was the frist mod i did

I just purchased a magnaflow dual rear exit with 3.5inch tips, and i think its 2.5 inch pipes out the back, still waiting to get my truck back from the shop to install it. I'll let you know how it goes (i'll probably just make a new thread on ease of installation, sound, etc.)

Wish Magnaflow had dual exits behind each wheel like Gibson extreme. I prefer the behind wheel exit, rather than under the tailgate.

They have that, i'm not sure of the part number, i have to leave now, but i'll try to find it for you later.

vancityf150 06-21-2005 05:30 PM

Thats what i want, exit behind each wheel. Looked at the site, but could'nt find it. How does the magnaflow sound compared to the flowmaster? Had the flows on a previous truck and it sounded really good. Would switch though, if its a better product and sounds similar. vancityf150

I can't seem to find it, maybe it was another brand-sorry about that. Flowmaster does make one like that though, called the "Force II Dual Split Side Exit Aluminized Steel Cat-Back System With 3inch Stainless Tips". I don't know if that means one on each side or both on one side.

You might want to just call magnaflow or flowmaster and see if they have what you're looking for as the pictures and info on the net are often inaccurate.

Good luck!
