Pictures in threads

Every now and then someone posts pictures in a thread. I want to do that but can't figure out how. Can someone explain it to me. I tried using the insert image button above the message but when I do it asks me for a url. All I want to do is insert a picture I've got stored on my desktop.

click on the advanced tab next to post quick reply then on the manage attachments tab on the lower part of the page. this will get you to the spot where you browse for your attachment. then upload the image.

Its prety easy but you have to have some type of website to post the picture on. All you do is create website, post that picture on that website, and copy the url of that picture into the forum post.(Your website can just be that picture...) You should be able to any free personal website places like GeoCities by yahoo. Give this a try if it doesn't work shoot me an email and I'll see if I can help you out.

4Cammer, when I click the 'Go Advanced' button below the quick reply I just get a regular ol replay screen without a 'Manage attachments' tab. As a matter of fact, the little 'Posting Rules' box at the bottom left says that I 'may not post attachments'. Any idea why this is?

And VA, how do I shoot you an email?

You don't even need a website. Just use a photo hosting service like www.photobucket.com . You get a free account, use the upload button to browse your hardrive (including your desktop), upload whatever picture you want, then post the pictures using the [img] tag. Photobucket even preps the link for you.

Example

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...edafterwax.jpg

Click on the picture, hit properties, and you can see the link to my photobucket account. There are other hosting services as well.

Moved to proper forum. There is a lot of info in this forum on picture display etc.

If you have a site question please try the FAQ section or use the Members/Support link.

Regular users can not upload attachments, Club FTE members can.

Please use links to display pictures if you can rather than uploading. This helps our server and other users. Use a {url} link rather than the {img} tags to help other users. ALWAYS use a link for large pictures like the one above.

What is considered large? I'd like to know because I don't think 46kb is large, but maybe some do.

Mil1ion 06-11-2005 09:39 AM

Yours was too large.

That's why I edited the Image to a link.

To save any arguments.

IMO< It is just best to post a link "regardless of the size"

This way ALL pics are included and the decision is easy :)
