V10 Stalls
I have a 2001 Triton V10, with a Banks added on about two years ago.
Engine began hesitating and intermitten stalling out about six months ago. After each stall, I was able to restart before it came to a complete stop. Does not happen at all times. Ford thought that it was fixed in January but when I took it on another trip in may, it was still the same as before. Now they are unable to find the problem. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks, David |
Haven't heard about anything like that.
How many miles are on it? Do you have a tuner? Does the Banks come with a chip that plugs into the computer? If so, remove it, make sure the contacts are clean, etc, and if it's still doing it, get Banks to replace the chip. I had a Superchips in my '96 T-bird 4.6L and it went bad - the car would stall mid-gallop, re-start on it's own, etc, and NEVER log a code - because the computer was resetting (rebooting). Other than that, I can think of a few other things to check out: MAF (clean it), vacuum leaks (must be a biggun), or even the PCM (computer). Get back to us with the above answers... |
Sounds like the "classic iac" problem.Idle air control solonoid behind the throttle body plenum.

Has 26k miles.
Don't know about the chip or tuner but will find out from Banks. |
THinking more on this, is it when you let off the gas that it stalls? Or does it cut out while keeping speed (as in, foot on the gas)?
