cam ID help please

both are marked betwen last lobe and last journal, A is upside down, AB and ABX, they may be stuff left over from the 60s I saved

Ok to clarifiy a few things.. If the 1st cam is a upside down A and then a BA it's a 427 cam. Part number C3AE-6250-AA. Nice cam. If it's not I have no idea. On the second cam if there is A upside down and then a BX it's a 428 PI/CJ camshaft. I can look for the original specs if you like. Holman Moody sells both of these but have yet to compare them to the original grinds to see if they vary in specs. Those are a few good sticks you have there. G.

thanks FFR428, the first is upside down A B, it also has red and tan (maybe white at one time) stripes, you can see physicaly it has bigger lobes than the abx

FFR428 06-06-2005 06:41 PM

Ok gotch ya upside down A then rightside up B? LOL. If so thats a C3AZ-6250-D 63 390/406 cam and also listed for a later 428 PI. Solid lifter cam. G.

hiball3985 06-06-2005 06:48 PM

FFR428..thats great news, I was hoping one was a solid lifter cam, also have 3 Sig Ersons to chose from but didn't want to try and chase down the numbers, trying to build a 390 on a budget(read old crap in the garage) Thanks

FFR428 06-06-2005 06:58 PM

Glad to help. Let me know if you need the specs. I have them here somewhere. G.

hiball3985 06-06-2005 07:10 PM

thanks G, I won't need the specs, thats whats going in, this whole engine is going to be made up from a mix of old parts, 352 block bored to 390( I still have new factory std bore pistons) , 390 crank and rods, CO8E-N heads, a single fourbarrel alumiumFORD manifold and aCOAF_K disributor, truck only used to haul ply wood, couches and to the dump etc, but my son wants me to use some of my stuff before I throw it away...he almost killed me when I sold my 406 tripower for $200

FFR428 06-06-2005 07:26 PM

Sounds like some nice old parts to have. Wow those tripowers are worth a pretty penny now! If memory serves me that's an old 390HP/406 dual point dizzy. Some nice CJ heads also. What intake you have?

hiball3985 06-06-2005 07:30 PM

I'm not sure exactly, I posted it here a while back, just an aluminum single fourbarrell, with a FOMOCO logo and no part number, it has opening for a roadraft tube, so it must be early 60's

FFR428 06-06-2005 07:38 PM

Oh ok I remember now. A nice aluminum lowriser intake. Yep early 60's. Came on 390HP, 406 and 427's. Hey have fun!
G.

thanks G, I'm sure we will, just need to finish up the Mustang front suspension then we will start on the 390
