Need opinions
 

OK. Long time since I have posted here but here we go. I have always wanted to build a pull truck. I have been looking lately and can't find a cheep rolling chassis so I am considering other options. I found an 89 F250 2wd (no motor) for $500.00 (or possibly less) and the body looks to be good. I am considering this but would like your guys opinions. Any thoughts of this truck? I will need to find a cheap motor that I can build later and possibly a heavier rearend (alot of the guys use 2 ton rears). Just working toward the goal. I am torn between this and just buying more toys for my diesel..... :-X15 Any thoughts or ideas???

Just get more mods for your diesel, then use it to pull. Problem solved.:)

problem is, the diesels don't get to pull every track, and have to work harder to get anywhere in competition...but it sure would be fun!

If I juice up the diesel then it would just be for fun (no truck pulling). I am still trying to decide. Any other suggestions or ideas? I will let you all know what I decide.

unless you can afford two projects I'd stick with just having the diesel never know when somthing will give and make your life a pain.

although it is fun to play around like that, it does take a bit of money and time, and never fails, something will break and cost you more money yet... as far as resale, too, forget it, you'll never recoup what you invest, the only return you can count on is the enjoyment of building it then running it... Right Rob? Occasionally there is the winnings...

believe me my winnings haven't even come close to paying for the engine I just built, but it sure a lot of fun.

didn't figure you got very good returns, the purses can't be that good, that's why I say it has to be done for fun, as soon as you expect to make money with it, the fun is lost...besides, it isn't a very good expectation to win that regular.

Thanks guys. I have decided to hold off on the evilbay truck but I am going to pickup Kelley's 79 F250 (purchasing for the motor and tranny but if the frame or cab will work then great). Then I will try to start tearing into the motor and learning more about them. In the mean time my exhaust, gauges, and probably a chip for the smoker should be in sometime in the next couple weeks! :-fire
