Mileage report - I know, I know... but I had to!
Yesterday, traveled from Long Island to Redding PA - 194 miles one way.
Make the first leg of the trip, did what I had to do, and started back. 194 miles one way, at 230 miles, filled up with 16.01 gallons. Yup, 14.3MPG. HOWEVER - I was stuck in traffic at the GWB and later on the NJT for 2 HOURS! Yes, that's right, idled or accelerated to 10-30MPH for 2 straight hours. Plus, I had the A/C on. So, '01 V10 SC SB 4x4 with NO cap, about 300 lbs of tools and materials in the bed, rear tires at 70 lbs (Cooper A/T 265/75r16) and 3.73 rear. And I wasn't babying it because someone else was paying for gas ;) I had to step out with full throttle quite a few times to either merge or pass, did 70MPH+ when possible, etc. etc. I wasn't easy on it. 14.3? With all that traffic and stop-and-go, high-speed driving? On the way home, used about the same amount with 1000lbs of load. Haven't gotten back to the gas station yet to figure out how much was used on the return trip, but looks the same. art k. ps: Only 20K miles on it after three years of ownership... |
