fifth wheels & ferries?

We are thinking about going to the coast this summer with the fifth wheel. What does it cost to get across to the island with an R.V.? Any destination tips would be appriciated.

Get ready for a couple of hundered $$$ each way.
It costs my friends about a $120.00+ pulling their 18 ft boat with their 98 F-250

Goes by the foot/people/etc If I remember right.

Maybe have a look on the ferry web page.

Haven't decided yet, read about the old mining towns on the north end of the island. Sounds like it is pretty interesting.

I will be taking 2 weeks off. I was thinking 3 days to get there, a week on the island & 3 days back.

Digger, If this is your first visit to the Island, you have to see Butchart Gardens. Go later in the day so you can do a tour in daylight. Then go for a late meal, and go for another tour after dark. They have fireworks and the lighting around the whole complex makes it a completely different place after dark. Most people find the night tour the most spectacular. Then you have to see the Provincial Museum next to the Parliament Buildings
and you would want to walk around that part of town which is next to the Inner Harbour and lots of nice things to see. The old Empess Hotel is there and many other attractions. You should make your campground reservations before you go if you want to camp in the Victoria area. You could also drive out to Twassen and go to the Duke Point terminal which takes you just south of Nanaimo, stay in your choice of smaller towns and drive to Victoria in your truck. Duncan , where I live is 45 minutes from Victoria. Chemainus, 12 miles north of Duncan is very popular with tourists because the whole town is done with murals showing the towns past. This is free stuff as well as the Totems all over the town of Duncan and If you want another freebie, The big Crofton Pulp and Paper mill takes people on free guided tours. Some people really like this kind of stuff. Ant other info you want about the Island, ask away. Wrench.
