water pouring from engine or back of water pump on a F150 1984

Hi ,, I have a 1984 ford 150 pick up..There is water pouring from the engine or back of the water pump but I can not tell...Could it be a engine gasket or water pump??...the truck did not run hot ..I filled the radiator with water and it was empty within 5 mins...it was not the radiator and I did not start the truck for this to happen any idea??? Thanks Jules

If you're sure the water leak is on the engine then I'd start with the basics. Make sure the lower radiator hose is not split, no holes, and the clamp is tight on both sides. It could be the gasket between the water pump and the block, try checking the water pump mounting bolts for looseness. Just some ideas as to where I'd start.

Jules, It sounds more like it is pump related then the engine block. Hoses that are older and ready to go seem to always go right at the clamp. Hopefully it is only a hose and not the pump. It could be a pump or thermostat gasket also. Just a thought. Good luck.
