Since we are on the subject of 'secret compartments' try this one. Reg cab for sure, I think anything with a 40-20-40.
Look at the pop out cup holder/ashtray. Now look down below at the carpet. Notice that there is a soft plastic strip about five inches wide, that goes from one side of the center to the other. It pops off with push in pins on each side, and you can remove it, or just open one side and pull it away.

There is some plumbing in there, but a lot of dead space. I put a small 100 watt, (OK, very small) amp in there, that I use just for my Woofer. Then snapped it back in place. I don't need to fiddle with the amp, so I don't have to open it. Other uses could be found, and maybe someone has a better one.

Is your console from an xlt? I believe that they will fit in place of the center seat.

I do have an xlt and am looking for a seat to swap for the console.

Hey chris, thanks for the compartment. I have put my jumper cables and and all my ratchet straps. If i could find a hinge for it, i would put the switch for my Reverse light MOD that i did. Thanks again man. If anyone knows about any more secret compartments, let me know. I heard a rumor of one that is either under the back seat or behind the back seat, but my back seat doesnt come down (do any of the back seats come down?)

that center console is out of the screw with the 5.4 in it. I have the 4.6 and it has a different console.

That free floating console only comes in the xlt it's not 'freeflow' type.

I don't use it to hide anything but it make nice access to vacuum the crud that collects down between the seats.
