I Got Lights Finally !

Well 3 years after i got this truck i finally have the lighting problem whipped. After patching and chasing and fixing this and that, i even replaced the headlight switch i finally figured it out. the entire problem was in the steering colum. why on earth would so much crap be shoved up in there and expected to work forever ? after patching the wires in there and replacing a few that were rubbing i thought i had the problem solved, but alas as soon as i put it back togather the brake lights quit working again, so i tore it apart again and again and again. I finally see that the turn signal cam isn't sitting where it is supposed to be sitting. Seems the little nub that holds it in place is gone and it is kinda floating around a little. It couldnt be this that is causeing my problems i thought, so i held it in place and called my daughter over to look at my lights. sure enough everything worked, as soon as i let go i only had running lights again. so i called lmc and two days later ( which is today april 1st) i get a 49 dollar package containg a new turn signal switch, snip snip run some wires hook them up and WOW all my lights are now working perfectly. If only everything was that easy. But of course as i was testing all my lights i see that i have a broken headlight, must have happened when that gravel truck passed me on the way home. so off to walmart to get a headlight. It never ends !

I had a 70 Chevy that was similar, it depended on which way the turn signal was last moved as to which brake light worked, but it was never both at the same time. The truck wasn't worth the money to get a replacement switch for it...

Pretty bad shape? or just because it was a chevy? :-X21

it didn't have a straight panel on it, no bed floor, and the carb gasket was installed upside down. It eventually burned up due to a gas leak at the carb onto the exhaust manifold... stupid thing to put the exhaust under the carb on a straight 6...
