Here's the CARNAGE (pics)
So I broke down and bought a digital camera.
Here are some shots of a defective WELD wheel: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72944&.jpg https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72947&.jpg https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72945&.jpg https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72948&.jpg https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72946&.jpg Enjoy... The last one shows the best detail of the black oxidation that formed on the lip that ripped. I'm currently working on getting pictures in the gallery of the track bar mount and front suspension for Mark. Cody |
That's crazy Cody. I know they told you they will not warranty then with a tire larger than 44" but have you actually seen this in writing? I've looked around a bit but haven't found it anywhere. I HAVE found that there's about a gazillion giant mall crawlers in Cali and Texas that are running 49's on these exact same rims.

it looks like that outer ring is just pressed in or something from the pics????? how is it attatched
seems like a regular wheel might not have done that |
Yeah, and that's why I figured that this wheel and tire combo was OK. I mean, look at that silver Durango that was on the cover of Off Road...EXACT SAME setup. That huge Hummer that is advertising FOR WELD WHEELS in the magazine is running 12 inch wide 20" wheels (which is pictured here).
https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72957&.jpg I don't know if it's only for the F1 model wheels in the advertisement or all of WELD's forged wheels, but it says in the text "lifetime structual warranty". I don't get it. There is obviously a problem with the wheel that I have. I'm sending WELD an email with those pictures attached and if I don't get a suitable response, I'm going to get myself a LOYAH!

Here's another ad....this one is for the Stonecrusher wheel like I have. It says "ability to handle 44" tires" and "designed to utilize the biggest off-road tire sizes." https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=72958&.jpg

I'd take their butt to court. |
Clearly a defect, that should NOT have happened just rolling down the freeway. Welds guarantee does NOT rule out 49's...somebody was just doing the cya routine. Probably out of luck because you bought these used, but still, its messed up.
|
Damn.....if that were a steel rim all you'd need is a torch and a hammer!
|
yea it is possible to heat it up and weld it back if it was steel but i would be scared they would do it again! i wouldn't wanan use the same wheels! i like the 22.5" Alcoa wheel idea.... that or staz's 20" double beadlocks 8D
-cutts- |
wow dude that sucks glad your ok i hope my welds dont do that
