How much lift is legal?
 

Anybody know how i can find the laws in Virginia? Is there laws that limit how high your truck can be or tire size? Im not going too extreme i just dont want to do the work twice... Thanks in advance!

Inspection Rules and Regs..Rear though what I could section 480 says that can't have more than 3 in body lift..It's a lot of info, granted it's great right before you go into inspection if ou think you might have a trouble spot. Best bet maybe to check with a vehicle inspection station in your area.

va law is 33" frtom bottom most point of the bumper to the ground front and rear. no more than 3" body lift and tires cant exceed more than 1 3/4" past the wheel well or extenda flare :-X22

Virgnia lift heights are based on GVWR.

GVWR >4500 Max 28", 4501 - 7500 29" rear end 30", 7501 - 10000 30" rear 31"

In Virginia, Broncos are NOT considered light duty trucks, and therefore have a lift max of I believe, 22" :-X19 They don't have a separate bed, and are therefore considered passenger vehicles.

Also, though most people measure from the bottom of the bumper, whoever is measuring is SUPPOSED to measure either from the bottom of the frame, or the bottom of the bumper, which ever is higher. So those people running 40's and drop-tag bumpers can still get a ticket if they get stopped by a cop who knows what he is doing :-X22

Ive tried calling dmv but they're clueless. I need to get the rule book before i do the work since i drive it most of the time, plus it will need to pass inspection, cheers to the commonwealth!

That link has most of the regulations, there's A lot of info there, i' probably gone through each one but I actually like reading info..I"ll sit and read spec sheets in the back of a manual just to know the info. At least it should give you a good idea of what to look for yourself
