how to disable the governor
I Have a 2004 ford F-150 heritage 4.2L and i want more speed. i have a jetperformance and K&N intake and i stop at 99mph. if you disable the governor you will go past but if anyone knows how to i would like to know. i want to put it on the track to see the performance gained but i stop at 99 b.c of the governor. if anyone know how to disable it or fix the problem i would be so appreciative. i would like to race a rice burner and win and not shut down at 99

If you need a mile to beat a rice burner, then you should invest the money to eliminate the governor in some performance parts.
Any hoot, get a chip, Diablo, SCT, etc. are all nice chips. They can improve shift points, timing, etc. as well as raise or eliminate the govener. Good luck. Garrett |
Also, you cannot just disable it. If you want it gone, you must get a chip or tuner to remove it.

dude i don't know if a civic or integra, which are the founders of rice, can hit 150.
or mabye it's been that long since i've been in the scene. |
I know neither could shut down the 5.4L, but I'm sure they could take the 4.2 and 4.6. We're only pushin' 205 ponies and the 4.6 220hp. Once those ricers hit like 50-they're gone.

Your funny homer. LoL. Youre right...a stock 5.4 dominates a stock manual tranny 4.2L. With your logic, and the reality of the fact that a 4.2 can easily handle a 5.4....any ricer can smoke any stock f150, reguardless of configuration.

I beat my brothers 5.4 powerdyne blown F150 with my 4.2 when I was all bolt ons, cam, and tune. Our 4.2 rocks.

We do realize a 5 speed civic EX vtec 2 door coupe runs, at best, a 16.6ish. An Si (well the late 90's models) run 15.7's. The newer model Si's have more torque off the line, but too much faster. I've smoke Integras and Civics all day...well, maybe not like a GSR or Type R, but you know...

I have beat civics and other cars of that sort also.. It's a question of what it is and how its modified(stock or otherwise). I've beaten GT v'6. Just aa quastion of what it is. NOW one of my friends had a 84 monte carlo. 350 v8 bored and stroked to a 385..over 400 ponies, with supercharger on the way..It runs 12's already.exilerating ride. Talk about whiplash. I'd like to buy a 4.2, have it bored out and bigger pistons put in. New cam, roller rockers, bigger injectors..Shall I go on?

Of course you can go on...Start a new thread labeled "dream 4.2L that may or may not EVER happen";)

Anything imaginable? Stroked, custom billet internals, balanced, ported intakes, blueprinted, gasket matched, custom turbo, heads, cam, 15 -20 psi, weight reduction, traction bars, swqay-bars, full suspension, and an expert driver? I could see 500-900 hp., similiar tq numbers, depensning on specs of the above mentioned items...plus anything I didnt think of.
