Remanufactured 302
 

I'm looking at replaceing my 302 with a remanufactured one. Any one know of a good place to pick one up? thanks

she's going back into my F150 ext cab 1993. she's a daily driver and i haul a trailer with a go-kart when we go camping. nothing major. i've seen some remanufactured motors go for around $1800 which is good. any suggestions?

i say do a 351w swap , you will get better towing performance out of it and its a strait over swap for the most part. your mpg wont be about the same to. I did this 2yrs ago and has been a great upgrade to my bronco. i found a complete 5.8 motor from a wrecking yard for 800. it had 80k miles on it and 170compression on all cylinders. you just reuse your 302 engine harness , and can also use the accessory's on the 5.8 as well.

I'm cool with the motor swap now what about the trany? will that as well need to be swap or anything done with it?

the tranny has the same bolt pattern. so it will bolt right up to a 351w. thats whats so great about this its pretty much a drop in deal

what all needs to be changed
 

so what all will i need to change for the 351w to work correctly with the current trany. I believe its a AOD is the corrrect code. can i use the same wire harness. is there anything major what i will have to change out basically. not worring about fuel injectors, belt, pullys etc. thats all minor. sorry for all the questions and thanks for all the answers..do you know of any place that sells remanufactured motors? (jaspers)?

well you would need to get a flexplate from an 80's crownvictoria that had the 351w/AOD combo. i went to advanced autoparts for this and cost $60 new . This is important because the 302 flexplate is a different weight 50oz vs the 5.8 using 20oz.
if you can get a complete motor (oilpan to upper intake) it will make this so easy . but if you start with just a bare longblock then there are a few extra things you would need. like upper/lower intake, Distributor & oilpan. now most those things can be found at your local wreckingyard for cheap im sure. but i found the complete setup was just way easier. especially if it has low miles.
