Sealant for windows and windshields

My side window is leaking. Since it's a lot of work to remove the inside trims to get to the fasteners, I want to remove the windows completely and reseal it, just to be sure. First of all, what do we do to remove the old sealant? Second, what kind of sealant do we use? Is it the same stuff that they use to install windshields?

Thanks

Are you talking front door windows, and is it leaking around the edge, or down the bottom somewhere?

Hi Barry:

It's the rearmost side windows. I have read posts here about this being fairly common for the Aerostar.

u can use butal for the side window but if its a front windshield u must use a urathane to install it cause butal wont hold it in a crash .call a few local windshield shops an im sure 1 will sell u the stuff they use.
thats what i do when i need to install a windshield
