Molded carpet

Has anyone had any experience with molded carpet kits? Who is good, who should I avoid? Any suggestions on what type of cut? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to FTE!!! I got a kit from JC Whitney and it's by NPI or something like that. Nylon pyle cut i think thats right. It's good quality but not as plush as my original carpet. but i had upgraded carpet in my truck being as it were a special edition called the Explorer. I would definately buy it again. Nothing wrong with it.

Edit: the molded carpet is great because you pretty much just take out the old carpet and put the new in the truck and your good.

Thanks a lot. That sounds like a great way to go. Did you put down a pad or sound deadener?

Does the molded carpet come in a big flat box or is it all rolled/folded up? Dumb question I know, but I have bought other shapped pieces that came folded.

the pad comes on this capet that i bought. It's only on the front though were you feet are. Under the seat there is none. And the original had none under the seat either.

this one that i bout was rolled up into a log about 12 inches around. and once i took it out of the box i could have put it right in the truck because there were absolutely no wrinkles in it. So it came in a box about 4-5ft high and 1ft square. So a rectangular box.

I reccomend it because of the ease of not having to hang it like i have heard from others. Also there are the cutouts for the shifters marked on the back so you cut them for a perfect fit.

Are you sure it was NPI?? Just wanted to make sure, since I am lokoing hard at doing this when it warms up again. Did you put any sound barrier or anything under it? How has it held up? I am looking for something that will last another 10 years of hard use like the original did.

Yeah it was NPI and i just put it in about a month ago and it's as good as the original. I didn't put any sound barrier under it as the pad is glued to the carpet and comes in one piece. the pad is a heat and sound reducer in one. seems to work just fine. Go for it if your gonna do it. only took me about an hour to install it and another hour of prep. so 2 hours is pretty much how long it's gonna take.
