:-wink Who makes the best tranny temp gage ? Are they hard to install ?
What besides telling me the temp, is the advantage of having one ?

Not hard to install.
Only benefit is knowing the temp. so you know when it's getting too hot.

I had a ISSPRO that I didn't like since the temp range started at 140* and the needle rarely got off the bottom peg.
I just pulled my ISSPRO gauges and installed some Autometer Sport Comps. I like the Autometer since the temp starts at 100*. Also the wiring on the Autometers is easier and takes up less space since the ISSPRO's I had had amplifier boxes for them.
I think that the Autometer sport comps with the green bulb covers installed match the factory gauges pretty good. Of course the ISSPRO EV series in black match the factory look as well.

As long as the temp starts at 100* you should be fine. Nothing wrong with the ones that start at 140* since they work fine, just often times especially in the winter the gauge won't move at all.

I just installed my ISSPRO meters and my Trans Temp Gauge starts at 100*. It takes about 20 minutes before it starts to warm up the trans and bring up the gauge to about 120*. Installation was easy. Install the sensor, run wires and install the gauge, hook up the wires and place the box inside the cab under the dash. Took about 3-4 hrs to install A-Pillar 3 gauge (EGT, Trans Temp and Boost) by myself. Drilling the exhaust manifold and tapping the hole took the longest (and scariest), everything else was a cinch.

I have the pricol gauges. The needle is not moving. The gauge starts at 100. I do not know if I have them hooked up wrong or what. I do live in Nebraska, currently it is 23 degrees here. When I put the meter on the posts I have a 12+ constant and the sending unit is showing 6.41+. I did not have the two wire sending unit like I have seen in pictures nor did I have a box like you guys to mount under the dash. Could that be my problem? Thanks

I installed EGT, Boost, and Trans Temp from AutoMeter using a Pilar mount on my 99 last spring. Not hard to do for this "Shade Tree Mechanic". just follow the instuctions with the guages and you should be OK. If you have any question just call Autometer and they are very helpful. DO NOT ground all gauges and lights with same wire. I did and the EGT would go crazy after a few minutes. A ground wire to frame for lights and Trans Temp plus one for EGT gauge fixed it. Autometer customer service help me with that one.

If you are pulling a RV or the like, the three gauges helps to inform you as what is going on so that you will not be FORDed (Found alOng Road Dead).

As my 12 year old son says, Chevys are good for racing, bad for pulling. Dodges are good for pulling, bad for racing, and Fords are at good for both. Not bad for a Jeff Gordon Fan.

I usually do not pay to must attention to the Trans Temp when I am not pulling anything, but today I did and after about 20 miles with outside temp around 35 trans temp was about 115 to 120. Last winter pulling a 5 X 8 trailer at -10F aon a 180 mile run trans temp ran about the same 115 to 120. I have AutoMeter starting at 100.

I like the autometer sport comp, they start at 100 and mine runs around 105 to 115 in cold weather. Outside temp is around 20

so, how hot is too hot?

i got a question for yall....i bought some guages from a friend they are autometer, but not sure which kind, anyways he gave me the 3 gauges (boost, pyrometer, trans temp) i got the boost installed and he gave me the parts for the pyrometer, but not installed yet, but he didnt give me anything for the trans temp. what do i need, a sensor?, or what else....and how much thanks guys
