Bug and tar remover should take it off of there for you.

thanks... do you think that will take my paint off 2? or will it be ok as long as i wash it off quickly there after?

I've used Pledge spray wax to remove sap and road tar.

Robbgt 12-08-2004 05:53 PM

Is the pledge wax your reffering to the wood wax?

Go to a local RV supply and get the black streak and tar remover. Takes it off and won't hurt you finish.

do u mean black streak like the kind you use on fiberglass boats to remove scuff marks? i think i have some left over from my boat.

I use peanut butter to get it off my skin.

mtncrawler 12-08-2004 07:35 PM

Peanut butter even removes old duct tape glue from your fingers.

WD40 works great for removing sap and won't harm the finish.

theres this stuff called clay magic made by auto magic they make auto detailing stuff it works great got a bunch of sap on my truck from the fires down here a couple years ago, hot sap is even harder to get off and this got it, takes overspray and road tar offf also. i belive meguires makes a similar product too. its a special spray and the clay bar works great

I agree with the miracle chemical known as WD-40.

Isopropyl

Another simple method is to use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) - also known as IPA. Melts sap away without any elbow grease.

either clay-bar or wax-shops superglaze, it will take off tree sap, road tar, just like the removers do, and you can use it in the same step. I ran a detail shop for big trucks, and tar can be a pain, you can clean it up with clay-bar as well(but if you have a a lot of fine scratches, and poor paint, I doubt you would want to waste your time)
