I am looking a purchasing a 2000 F250SD W/ 7.3L and am interested in knowing what others are getting for fuel mileage. I have heard various figures depending on the year of the vehicle and am interested in knowing what other people with a 2000 model are getting. Thanks for you help.

I Can Do(according To My Gauges) Close To 20 On Open Road...more Like 13-15 Overall It Appears

I have a 2002 F250SD W/ 7.3L avg 14.2 to 16.9mpg :-fire

I'm getting about 12 pulling a load, ranging up to 15 on the highway w/no load. I believe I could get a lot more if I had higher than 4.10 gears, the RPM's are way up there on the highway.

Just checked mine today 15.9 mpg. , that a combination of all my driving . '96 PSD F350 4 dr DRW with 410 gears and 5 speed .

I have an 01, I get around 12 pulling 32' fifth wheel and have gotten as good as 21.5 running about 58mph. Helps to keep it under 2000 rpm.

i have 96 4x4 ext cab 8' bed, 150,000K i consistantly get 17.25-17.75mpg untill it got below 30*, now getting 16mpg.

towing 6000lbs through NH & VT hills i get 12-13mpg.

bone stock.
70-80mph loaded or not.

I have been getting about 19-20 mpg combination city/hwy. Hwy only I get 19-22 depending on rpm's, and I am almost always empty.
96,SC,4X4,auto,4.10's,chip,Tymar,4" straight piped, 180k mi.

I am currently getting around 18.5 mpg with the majority of my driving on the highway. The computer readout says I am getting 19.7 and unless my math is wrong it's a bit inaccurate. The key is to keep the foot out of it.

I wish I could be getting that sort of mileage. What type of speeds are you talking about? Around here in AZ if you are under 70-75 even in the slow lane you WILL get run over.:-X15 I try and keep it in this range and I tell you people are moving by me like I'm standing still.:-X09 Let me ask this, how many miles to the tank are you guys getting? I am especially interested in my year 02'. I have a 02' 4X4 PSD SB CrewCab(dry). I am currently getting between 13 and 14 mpg. The truck is straight piped and has the Kwikk filter set up. Tires are 285/75/16 Dueller ATs(always at pressure) Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

Accually you're not getting bad mileage for the speed you're running . 18 / 22 mpg. is not unheard of....IF you keep the RPMs below 2000 , but as you say , you take a chance of getting run over . I can get 11 / 13 mpg. pulling my 30' travel trailer IF I keep it around 2000 RPMs. and have a best of 18.3 in everyday driving ( very little or no highway ) bobtail . The only mod I have is the "kwikk" filter .

I've averaged 16.5 mpg overall since I bought my truck. I routinely get 19.5 mpg on the freeway. I have 4.10 gears and 35" tires, so my final drive ratio is very close to the 3.73 gears of a SuperDuty. At 2000 rpm, I'm going 69mph, and find that to be the best speed for mileage.
Fuel mileage always drops 1-2mpg during the winter because of winter fuel, and slightly increased idling time.

On my 99 around town I have been geting 10 mpg I dont get to many chances to run it on the highway to check it and I know its low but dont know what to look for to get any better than that.

285 tires, cat deleat, bully dog four way chip which is off or on 50 hp untill I get my gauges thats what in working at now

I know you are looking for data on 2000 powerstroke's, but I can't help but brag about my '97 250 CC 4x4. I am using Diesel Kleen and a canopy, and I get 20-21 mpg on the freeway with no load. I do keep the rpm's below 2000 and usually let the rpm's be my guide on what speed I go. Eventually I will get a turbo boost guage and let that be my guide for what speed I go. I average about 60-65 mph, which is fine for me. If I'm going too slow, go around.

palajoe don't get too worried about driving by the boost gage. I have tried it, and got better results driving by the tach. If anything city driving mpg was better by keeping boost below 5-6psi, but on the Hwy the tach method was the best. My MPG figures are without any topper at all, tailgate closed, and no diesel treatment additives at all, stock size firestone steeltex (E) rated tires @ 45 psi when empty for a little smoolher ride. I will air them up if I have a heavy load.
I get about 350-360 miles /tankful which is 18-19 galons in each tank.
