2.5 and 2.3
 
hey guys i need alot of help. i have a 98 ranger with a 2.5l 5 speed trans and i want to put a 2.3 turbo in it and i want to use my trans could anyone tell what i have to do to make all this work.

sense no one else has said it, a stronger clutch is a good idea. the one that's in there is good for it's application, just not real good at taking the abuse a turbo will give it.. that and regular transmission fluid changes should do it..

i persanlly looked in to turboing my ranger.... you might want to go with a t5 out of a v8 mustang, with the 2.3l bel housing.. not all t5's are the same it must come from v8, BUT use the 2.3l bell.
that will give you insurance agenst hurtin the trans. But if you do not change trans just keep the up keep on it, you find problems quicker, beable to get to things before they break.

I would put the turbo on the 2.5 if its the stroked 2.3.

I wouldnt even worry about the trans as long as your running stock size dia tires.As long as you dont expect the rings/cast pistons to last more than 20k don't worry.But they will catch a little hell.
