How many 68-74 Econoline vanners out there?
 

Nearly all the guys on this forum seem to have the 75 and newer vans. How many 68-74 second generation Econoline vanners are out there?

I have a 72 E200, Purchased in 1972 now has aprox.500k and on its 4th engine.Joined this forum one day while looking for parts to update myGreenthing.

Do you guys know of some sites to get info on these vans? I'm looking at getting a '72

hi fellow vanners, i've got a 74 custom cargo van that i beleive is one of the last built. i ordered the van in 74 and have had it ever since, planning on restoring and bringing up to date and travelling to some shows. glad to see there are still a few of us left.

i have a sweet 71 e200, as far as i am concerned the 68-74 are the best looking years ever made, just wish the aftermarket boys would get on board and offer parts for these years! parts are a nightmare to find!

Left something outI just bought a 72 1 ton E-300 Motor Home real cheap then drove it home about 50 miles after it had been sitting almost 2 years. All it took was a hot
battery,1-Qt of oil,gas and $17.50 for valve stems in 2 of the tires. Thats
not counting about 2 hours to change a flat tire, it was parked on a hill in the dirt & finderwell sides just about evenly matched where the lug wench ended,
and the little floor jack I took was way to small, should have took my big one.
it was loads of fun. But it runs good & i've changed oil & antifreeze and am
doing a tranny service tomorrow & have a new master cylinder on order as
the old one was full of rust & crud. Paid $250.00 for it and the body is clean.
other than that it needs some plumbing on the water tank & a good cleaning.

I had a 69 E330 Club Wagon that was bought new. 302-2 bbl, C-4 trans, 3.73 geared Dana 60. In the ten years we had it, it ate 5 transmissions, never got over 10-11mpg. Factory A/C left a lot to be desired. Had some good times in her, but was glad to get rid of that thing. My current E150 with it's 351 would run rings around the 69,in every respect. 150K miles on it now and 10 years, and still runs and drives like new. Only major component changed has been the speedo cluster. Ain't touched the engine or trans, other than basic maintenance. You'd have to be really dedicated to keep and drive a 68-74.

My Dad has a '69 Chateau Clubwagon 123 that his Dad bought from the Ford Dealership 4 miles from our house (no longer in business). This van is more a member of the family then a truck! Definatly greatest generation of Ford vans ever... Partial VIN decode:

I've got a 1972 E200 Club Wagon Chateau, with possibly almost every option available at that time. Decent original shape, but needs some work as it hasn't been on the road for a few years. Been collecting parts for a couple of years.

74 E100 clubwagon 302 C4 w/ 60,000 miles. been sitting in a barn. I'm surprised how cheap parts have been so far.

While the initial part number prefix is C8UZ, and the vehicle came out in 1968, there is no such thing as a 1968 Econoline. It's a 1969.

Does that mean there are no 1968's at all?

No 1968 Econolines are listed in the 1964/72 Ford truck parts book, they are considered 1969's, irregardless of the fact they were introduced mid yr 1968.


The same holds true for the Lincoln Continental Mark III's which were introduced at the same time the E-vans were. Irregardless of the C8LY part number prefix, no 1968 Mark III's exist, they also are considered 1969's. How many 1969 Mavericks have you seen? None, right? Same story...early introduction. How many 1955 Lincoln Mark II's have you seen..same story. Mustang introduced April 23, 1964...there's no such thing as a 64 Mustang...they are all 1965's.
