76 F-100 Reverse Lights
I have a 2wd 76 Ford F-100 with a 302. The reverse lights don't work, where is the switch for them so I can find where the problem is. Any help is appreciated 8D . Thanks.

Usually on the side of the tranny if it's an automatic. Look on the driver's side of the tranny where the shift lever comes out. You will see a plastic piece with wires coming out of it. Most of the time there are 4 wires. Two of them are the neutral safety circuit that go to the starter relay, and the other two are the back-up lights. You have to take the lever off, and then unbolt the switch from the tranny. The switch is hollow and fits over the shaft coming out of the tranny.

OK, thanks it is an auto, I was thinking the switch might be on the tranny. Anyways now I should be able to fix it tomorrow. 8D

Up till '77, the switch was on the top side of the steering column near the floor. Not an easy place to get to. Later in '77 is when they were moved to the tranny.
