Biodiesel Processors

Does anyone here make their own Biodiesel? If so what kind of parts do I need to process my own. I have several 55 gallon Poly drums. Is it better to stir or have a recirculating pump. What kind of heater do I need. What is the bast way to strain the oil.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Bigham:

Try a Google search. There are MANY sites out there that have posted both lengthy and intricate details about the process and the many variations folks are using, and exactly how they are doing it. There are a few sites with excellent diagrams and also pictures of their processors and all the various components, testing equipment, etc. I did that search a few months ago and was amazed at how much people are willing to share on their sites.

Good luck.

I've done some reading on ,it better to find a station that has it. You have to use some rather flamable stuff to make the veggie oil work

Does using Biodiesel void your warranty?

From what I have read, it sounds like a good idea since these engines were originally designed to work on peanut oil.

I wont be making my own any time soon tho.

From Ford:

Ford's Position on Biodiesel:
Ford is advising that any of their vehicles powered by a diesel engine, regardless of manufacturer, may exhibit engine or fuel system problems when using fuels with greater than 5% Biodiesel. Any problems when using fuels containing more than 5% Biodiesel should be referred to the fuel manufacturer. Ford only recomends using fuels containing no more than 5% Biodiesel (B5) in their diesel powered vehicles. In addition, as per World Wide Fuel Charter (WWFC) catagory 1-3, fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) must meet EN14214 and ASTM D 6751 specifications. Broadcast Message 0884.
