manual steering rebuild

Hi folks, I have a NOS set of steering gears (ball nut and sector shaft ) for my '66 F-100. I'm having quite a time finding the bushing and seal so I can get started. Macs returned my inquiry explaining that in an effort to protect the professional rebuilders, they don't offer certain parts. Their catalog is full of bushings and seal kits for many applications but not for the world of '65-'72. I'm a little confused about their selectiveness. Any other ideas to get me going would be appreciated.

Have a run to your local bearing supply house. They can most likely find everything you are looking for as most seals and bushings are not proprietory. It will require a deticated counterman to help you and it wont be cheap. But in the end, you will come out cheaper than buying a rebuilt box from one of them 'proffessionals'!

Thanks for the insight into bearing/seal applications. I'm tearin' it apart tonight!

I found a bearing house in Dallas that will go to the trouble to sell you the bearing you need. Be it for my old truck or lawnmower. Texas bearings in downtown Dallas.
maybe you'll get lucky and have the same where your at.
