vacuum advance hose

I am trying to get an 83 truck running. It's a 83 ranger and has 2.3L. It has had all of the smog junk removed. It starts without much of a problem. But when you give it gas it does not pickup very fast and seems like it is boged down. I started checking for vacuum leaks and found that the vacuum advance hose is not connected to anything. I would think it should be connected to the intake somewhere. Can someone tell me if that is the case?

There should be a vac port on the carb just for that purpose. In most cases the port will not supply vacumn until the throttle blades have opened up some. So it may not have a vac leak at idle but it will at crusing speed.
