Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Replacing my Passenger Window

Well, less than three hours to go and not enough time for me to check anything, so from memory here goes ...

From your description, it sounds like you have a manual window and it is not inside the channel.

Loosen the channel by removing the screw that holds it. Lower the regulator all the way. Take the window and put it into the door by tipping it slightly forward, when about 1/2 way in straighten/level it out. Lower with one hand. Bring the regulator up with the other hand and slide the roller into the track. Lower the assembly, now raise it and make sure it is inside the right hand channel. Push all the way up and secure with a 2x4. Now tighten all the nuts/bolts.

If by chance this has not worked and you need to go, place a piece of wood (2x4 should be small enough) towards the front of the door and jam it against the track to hold the window up. The wood should be put in at an angle, so it should be about two inches higher than the track to bottom of the door distance. Now place a piece of wood next to it vertically so the window is now supported in the front and middle. Now to keep it all in place cut a piece of wood to fit between the second piece and the rear of the door and jam it in.

If wood is not available, take a piece of duct tape, paste to the outside of your door, loop under the window track, paste to the inside of the door. Duct tape will look like a U shaped loop that will hold up the window. Make at least four loops like this. Make the straps of duct tape long. Then take a bungie cord as extra protection and run it from the door handle opening to the front of the door somewhere. That way if the window drops it hits the bungie cord without smashing completely into the bottom of the door.
