Bizzare '91 Eddie Bauer Radio Problem

I have this strange problem with my stock CD deck on my '91 Eddie Bauer Explorer. When I don't turn the car on for about 5 hours, when I go to turn the car on, the radio doesn't work. The readout on the radio is blank. After running the engine for about 15 min with the heat on, I stop the engine and take the key out. When I start the car now the radio magically works. It happens in all temperatures, but heat seems to help it turn back on. I think it might be the power supply, but it happens everytime without fail. I would like to avoid buying a new deck, but I want the radio to work. I realize this is hard without seeing it, but any help is apreciated.

Its possible there is an internal short , electrical problem with the radio ? Maybe check locally & see if anyone works on Ford radios . I know where I live there is a shop that deals exclusively with Ford radios .

A lot of times solid state electronics develops a temperature based intermittent condition.
This even happens right down to an individual component like a chip or transistor. Usually these are pinpointed by heating up with a lamp or blower, then spraying individual parts with a cooling spray which is sold in electronics stores. Then if you spray one part that either makes it go off or come on, that part is replaced. Anyway, that's how these things are often fixed.
