Calling all Iowans!!!

I found this webpage about 2 months ago and have been reading quite a bit and this is by far the best there is when it comes to ford trucks. Now this is what I need. I was in the process of buying my dream truck from a friend of mine and now at the last minute he backs out and doesn't want to sell it. (this is the third time he's done this to me) So I said screw it and I'll find another one just like it. So this is what I'm looking for:

1975 Ford F250 4x4 (same body style must be highboy) don't care about what engine is in it because I can always change that anyway. Would prefer if it was an automatic but not necessary. This is going to be a project truck I'm not looking to spend $15,000 on a totally rebuilt. I like doing some of the work myself!

Thanks again

Matt

You're about 3 years late... I'll have to look around. I'm sure there's one here somewhere, see them on the road all the time.

I've been trying to get this truck from him for about 3 years now! I live up by Waterloo so if it was around here that would be great but definately not necessary!

At that point, it was and now still is in South Dakota, but been thinking, used to be one in Wayland... Have to stop in and see what happened to it, might be just sitting out back. It had been there for some time. from what I had seen of it, didn't look too bad, other than that light green paint... Now if only you wanted a 2wd 79, I could set you up today!!! ;)

Hi got2

There are a few of those around here (Dubuque area). Let me know how much your willing to spend and I will get some pix and info for you and email it to you...

There is a 77 highboy in downtown Dbq I have been trying to get for over 10 years just sitting there with 4 flat tires, her hubby died 3 years ago and she still wont sell it :-X09 But never give up :-X10

I will take my digi camera to work with me today and try to snap a few pix to see if anything peaks your interest :-wink

Not sure really how much I want to spend. I guess it kind of depends on what it is and how good of shape it's in. I would like not to go much over 1500-2000 but like I said if it's in really good condition then who knows I guess.

have spotted a 76 3/4 4x4 here in Kahoka, pretty good shape too, other than the front fenders are removed, has one in the back, the other is unaccounted for, and the grille is missing, I can possibly help out on that part. If you want me to pursue it, I can. It is definitely for sale, has a sign in front of it and all.

got2lb 08-24-2004 09:53 PM

Yeah, that would be great if you're willing to check into it for me! Not to sound stupid but where is Kahoka? I live up by Waterloo, not that it makes a difference I'm willing to go pick it up. Is there any way you can get a pic? Thanks again

it's on my side of the border, follow 218 south, and the 27, and you'll come cl;ose to it, just 9 west of the Avenue of the Saints route. I'll have to get one of those disposable cameras until I get a charge cord for my digital... It's pretty clean, way better than my 75 was, rust is actually pretty minimal.

Well, things are not always as they appear. I have yet to catch the guy at the shop, but I took some pictures today, and some things finally clicked with me. I had noticed the 78-9 steering box, and the gas tank between the rails didn't sink in, but what I have here is a 76 F100 body on a 79 frame, saw the cab and clip out back. Never even looked for the divorced case. So if you wanted a true blue highboy, this isn't it.

Thank you for all the looking and stuff you have done, I really appreciate it but I'm really looking for a true "highboy". If anyone else has seen any please let me know, or a good place to look online?

Thanks again,

matt

I fully understand. I'll keep my eyes open, and pay better attention next time. If I get back to South Dakota, I'll have to see if either of the 2 I knew of out there are still there, the one was like $200, but the motor was disassembled, and the rear axle was gone.

where was it at in SD, I have a cousin that lives in Sioux Falls. I found one in the paper around here that I'm going to call on as well. "74 F250 4x4 390 4spd need trans. put in and Frt. dif. swapped out. (have repl.) $1100" Seems kind of steep to me considering I would have to put it back together but it depends on what kind of shape the body is in I guess.
