if anyone can help

I have a 67 ranchero and am going through some rough times. My 200 I6 has cracks around one of the front headbolts and I had water shooting out of the block. I removed that engine and found a 170 out of a 63 comet or falcon. I brought it home to realize it doesn't share the same bell housing pattern or flywheel as the 3.03 tranny I have. So I go back and find a 2.77 tranny out of a 60 something econoline which has the right bell housing and the right 8.5 inch flywheel. I bring it back thinking cool, I can now marry these two together to then realize although the bell housing will bolt patern matches, the spline is too big and the hole to the rear of the housing is too small.

Now I was looking on fordsix.com which had a link to inlinepage.com. It says I can use all the stuff from the 2.77 (flywheel, pressure plate, etc0 except the clutch plate which I should use a 80 4 cyl plate which will be 8.5 inches yet have the same spline as the 3.03. It also says I need an adapter plate for the bell housing.

This right here is my delema!! Where do I find this adapter plate? I have been looking all over the net!!!

if anyone can help, I would surely appreciate it and any other help you can give.

One last thing, I was reading a post which mentions a guy from pasadena named eugine. Can anyone help me get more information on how to contact him?

ok heres the scoop, 144,170, and 200 all share the same bellhousing bolt pattern, flexplate/flywheel and motor mounts. the only small six that is differant is the 250. the 250 shares the bell housing with the small block v 8 and the big six. they are taller and wider than the 144-200. i think you have a 250 six, and the 170 will not bolt up in your car. the econo bell housing is different by a long ways, the tranny in the econo is a breed of its own.

if i was you, i would back up and punt. then start all over again! you will be better off, and everything will go a lot easier.

I know that the engine in the ranchero is the original 200 with 7 mains. I looked up the casting codes and ford sent me a letter telling me all about my ranchero. thanks though, I wish I had the money to start all over again.
