Blinking 4X4 Dash lights

I have a 95 that was working fine and now both the 4x4 AUTO and 4x4 LOW lights keep blinking on the dash. I can't engage the 4x4 now and nothing works, but I think it's still in 2wd.

Any expert opinions please email me: wallisan(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

I have the same problem on a 1999 model. It is caused by a bad shift motor, or bad shift motor sensors (or possibly both). The dealer recommended replacing both. Apparantly, the shift motor has siezed due to infrequent use of the 4x4 low. The estimate to fix the problem: $800.

I've been told that tapping the shift motor with a plastic hammer or rubber mallet might loosen it up. I still need to try it.

I just priced out a motor for my 1992 eddie/B explorer and it was $250.00 with a $50 core charge at Lordco parts in B.C. Canada. After my 30percent discount. Not sure where you are from and who quoted u that price.Even my mechanic said he would install it for $70.00 one hour labour,But you can do it yourself its easy.Hope this helps.
