1950 ford F-3 flat 6

  1. Does anyone know of a resources for aftermarket performance parts for these motors? I would like a cam made for mid range toruque 2000-5000 RPM. Maybe a set of Hydraulic lifters if possible.
  2. I would also like to shave the head a bit for extra performance not sure how much is allowable anyone know of a good book?
  3. I like the six would just like a little more uuummmmppp for highway cruising at 65 with higher gears. I want to cruise at about 2000-2500 rpm with a rearend swap.

Performance stuff for the 6 is hard to find. I have seen heads made for them, but that was in some of the old Hot Rod mags from the '50's. Ford's flathead six was never really seen as having much potential for performance. It was a low speed work motor, max torque and HP were made somewhere around 1800 RPM. For the cam, you might have to have somebody custom grind one for you, finding one off the shelf will be near impossible. Any good machine shop who has some performance background should be able to help you determine what a good amount to shave would be w/o making compression too high. Other work that is done to the V8 enigne should also work, such as releiving the block, a good 3 angle valve job, etc.
